Give your feathers wire support. For full feathers, wire several together.
Look at the “brads” in the scrapbooking section for decorative elements that won’t stab you in the head.
Paper Maché with buckram strips on the bias.
Get a cheap party hat in the shape you’re looking for, top hat or riding hat, for example. Spray paint and cover or drape with “illusion” or tulle, with tulle tails. Add beaded garlands, sparkle trim, feathers.
There are lots of tools and supplies new to me. Resins, glues and fabrics impregnated with heat-gun maleable glue.
