Indie and Odd Holiday Gifts p. 2

Buy indie and odd, that’s my holiday motto. Each Wednesday from now till Christmas I’ll give a quick list recommendation to help you find the cool and quirky stuff that I’ve stumbled across at sci-fi conventions. Please add your own recommendations in the comments. Links will be greatly appreciated.

I met Travis the creator of Hainted Holler at Balticon this year and bought his strip collection book. It’s hard for me to describe exactly what it is. Not entirely funny or strange or superhero-esq or a chronicler of everyday life. It’s all of that. If you email him (the address is on the top of the page) he’ll mail you an autographed book for $12.

Music

And then you have day’s when you wish you had a dark goth album about vampires with a train operatic soprano because Christmas makes you feel dark. May I recommend Valentine Wolfe and their album The Crimson Masquerade. I met them at ConCarolinas and they never once tried to assault me.

Zombies

And then you’re all like, “dude! Where are the zombies?”
For your super creepy undead gear you should check out Flesh nommers. At HorrorFind I was totally captivated by their book My First Pet Zombie. It would make a great holiday gift for a creepy little kid.
