….makes it all better.
It was one of those weeks. You know them because you have had them. Perhaps it’s a conglomeration of appliances failures, car trouble, and innocuous yet wasteful office meetings. Or it could have been cat vomit on the bed while you’re sleeping, broken glass in the dishwasher, and exercise equipment catastrophe due in large to operator error.
My past week was a combo of political infighting at the office (which I am trying to stay clear of), a recurring medical issue (looks like I will be spending quality time with my favorite physical therapist), and some security incident which shall remain vague and mysterious (even to myself, when all is said and done).
But it’s all OK, because I received a random box of books through my local Freecycle.org group. Yep, some nice couple was moving and giving away a whole box of books to whoever would come pick it up. So I did. And at the end of the week, curled up on the couch after a nice shower with a hot cup of tea, I opened my box and spent the next hour perusing.
I think a nice box of books would make your life better.
Therefore, one randomly-drawn commenter will be getting a small box of gently-used books from me. Say something snarky or endearing – it doesn’t matter to the Random Number Generator.
A box of books, you say? Those always do make things all better. And those weeks you speak of? I know them too well.
While I’m in no need of more books (truly. hubby says it’s time to cull, and for once I agree with him), you are 100% right, books make everything better. On those no good terrible awful days when I’m cranky and angry and a ball of meanness, some very nice person in my house puts shoes on my feet and a hat on my head and pushes me out the door in the direction of the library. whether they are books i can keep or only to borrow, just being around all that bookness makes everything better.
Boo hoo. Tripped over my own feet for a graceful faceplate into the train station platform at 4:45 this morning. Hopefully the week doesn’t continue like this.
Husband reports that there are THREE boxes of books waiting for me at home!
