Hi Guys!
First, pop your barely scratched DVD of The Dark Crystal (it’s in the top drawer, behind Alien 3) into the player, or cue up Season Five of Dr. Who, or whatever your motion picture poison is, and let’s get this thing started.
There’s a lot of you out there nowadays. Who are you? Who’s out there? Tell me a little about yourself in the comments and I’ll make a blog list here in this post. Sort of a bloggy hoppy rolly kindathing. Then go out and meet & greet, K? Here’s two to get started:

Other fun party stuff–
(the giveaway stuff, from this post: first come first serve, leave a note in the comments. If there’s more than one request, I’ll do a random number. I’ll probably get bored with this by Tuesday.)
Stina Leicht is giving away two of her books, which Little Red really liked. You can enter that contest, here: http://stina-leicht.livejournal.com/438693.html
nrlymrtl is giving someone an entire box o’ books, here: http://darkcargo.com/2012/07/17/a-box-of-books/
Remember the post a while back discussing non-English SF/F? This story, The Fish of Lijiang
— by CHEN QIUFAN , translated by KEN LIU —
has just been declared the winner for the 2012 science fiction and fantasy awards, translation award, short story. Full text, here, with audio: http://clarkesworldmagazine.com/chen_08_11/
Here’s an ePub version of The War of the Seasons, by Janine Spendlove. I won this from her in a panel at Balticon, but I have also purchased the paper copy, so one of you may have this.
The Clockwork Phoenix 4 kickstarter is still going and is doing pretty well. Please consider giving them a buck or five. This is a project I believe strongly in. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1980499216/clockwork-phoenix-4-new-stories-of-beauty-and-stra
I’ve been allowed to give away one e-copy (there is no paper copy, sorry Red) of an ebook I put together for Juliet E. McKenna in exchange for a review on the Amazons. It’s a short story collection and serves as an awesome intro to her multi-volume epic fantasies (she’s writing book, uh, #14 now) set in her Einarinn universe:

There’s still time to vote in the Pegasus Awards, if you haven’t already:

I’m giving you a copy of Analog, May 2001, which has Paula S. Jordan’s A Gift of Unbinding. (This is a well-loved copy.)
Here, from ReaderCon, is a video of one of the panels. This one is on the physiological and cultural process of how we read: http://jhstevens.wordpress.com/2012/07/19/video-theories-of-reading-panel-at-readercon/
I went in search of A Dog’s Life comic (recommended by Chuck Parker, link above) at our local comix shop, no luck, but they did have several free copies of Magic Bullet, issue 4. This is a newsprint magazine of DC-area comic strips. I have three copies for you guys.
If you’ve never participated in the Hugo Award process, there’s still time to do that, here: https://chicon.org/
The guidebooks for Readercon and Balticon were both incredible. They include short fiction from the guests. One each to two of you, please note which.
I found some 1964 editions of analog. Really! This one here has a short story from Frank Herbert, The Mary Celeste Move. Who wants?
And someone gets a subscription to Mythic Delirium, courtesy of yours truly.
Ok, hush. The Fifth Element is starting.

Hey, it’s a party! Looking forward to meeting and greeting (no need to link, I’m already up there)! great score on those old analogs. I’ve got half a dozen early 80s mags left over from my dad’s old subscripton, including my favorite short story of all time, “the road not taken” by Harry Turtledove. Great stuff.
Oh, that clockwork phoenix project looks great…I’m in, you should be too!
They broke their goal for the Clockwork Phoenix, yay! They’re on to stretch goals now. Excellent!
I tried finding A Dog’s Life, the paper bound collection. The fellow at the comix shop looked at me like I had two heads. Where can I get a copy?
glad to see we’re into stretch goals!
As for “A Dog’s Life”, you probably won’t find it in a comic shop (unless Chris has managed to get copies into his local Richmond store); it’s the smallest of small press. Luckily, he’s got it for sale on his web site – http://www.adogslifecomic.com/shopping/index.php
Most comic shops are hit and miss – the only thing guaranteed anywhere is going to be your big two – Marvel and DC, and most the second tiers (Dark Horse, IDW, Image). for small press stuff, your best bet is a con or the web.
Glad to see I sparked your interest in it, though – it’s a cute book.
holy cow, this is one heckuva party! i should have brought more beer. . .
where in the world did you get those old Analogs? and one with a rare-ish Herbert? Omg, WANT. Will trade you just about anything to further complete my Herbert collection.
off to follow all those hoppy linkses!
People were giving them away at both Balticon and RavenCon. Pretty cool, huh? And these old, HUGE formats are beautiful, big gorgeous cover art and double columns throughout, etc. This one’s got your name on it.
