I multitask with most things. If I am cooking dinner, I am also loading the dishwasher, packing up the trash, and folding laundry. And listening to an audiobook. I find that my hands do these common tasks just fine with my brain engaged elsewhere, like swimming with seals, hunting dandelions, or learning interesting tidbits about medieval weapons.
Now I have even been known to read a book while following a less-than-engaging movie, or while knitting, or having a phone conversation with a self-absorbed relative.
But at the end of the day, when I crawl into bed, that is where my full attention is given to whatever my current favorite book is. I love to get sucked into the book, savoring every word, moving my lips to the words to slow myself down.
So with that in mind, are my other book reading/listening antics disrespectful to the book/author? Should I be giving each and every book my full attention? Do you?
