Legacy Recommendations

What a lovely moment. It’s pouring rain, finally, after a hot sweltering summer. I picked out some treasures from the library and from the used bookstore. With a Fancy Coffee, I get to sit outside and enjoy the rain and new books.

One that I picked out is by Sherri S. Tepper, The Fresco.

Sherri S. Tepper is an author that was recommended to me a decade ago by a biologist I worked for while in Colorado, serving an internship for the Bureau of Reclamation. That was the summer of the Hayman fire…but I digress into waddling memories.
Anyways, here is an SF author, recommended by this biologist that I respect and admire, doing work that I feel is important and meaningful, and I am only now getting around to reading this author. These things clangorous around in my head for decades, you know?
What authors have you had recommended to you by people in a position of respect in your life? Have you gone on to read those?

  1. I seem to have a whole shelfful of books recommended by you…..and some of them I have dived into and others sit there calling my name, giving me the stink eye every time I walk past.

My friend from Knitting Circle has also recommended several books and several I have read and others are still there in the back of my head. Out of all those recommendations I have tried, there have been so many incredible authors (Jim Butcher, Karin Lowachee, Guy Gavriel Kay, etc. ) and only 1 Fail (which I won’t name here because it was probably me and not the book.
