I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!
Dr. Seuss
I can read in red. I can read in blue.
I can read in pickle color too.
I can read in bed, and in purple. and in brown.
I can read in a circle and upside down!
I can read with my left eye. I can read with my right.
I can read Mississippi with my eyes shut tight!
There are so many things you can learn about.
But…you'll miss the best things
If you keep your eyes shut.
The more that you read, the more things you will know
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
If you read with your eyes shut you're likely to find
That the place where you're going is far, far behind
SO…that's why I tell you to keep your eyes wide.
Keep them wide open…at least on one side.

Is this really a ‘challenge’? I mean how many of us DON’T have a 2012 wish list already! I know I have already scoped out all of my favorite authors and posted on my calendar when their new books are coming out this year.
I appreciate the simplicity especially since I failed miserably at last year’s challenge. But I loved the idea. I really appreciate the effort you put into trying to broaden the scope of the rest of us. I know that I owe you a heartfelt thanks for introducing me to many of my fav’s. Kelley Armstrong, Linea Sinclair (sp?), I am sure I never would have read them if you had not handed me the book. Now I love them both although I fear I may be behind on Sinclair. It must also be said I did not enjoy every book you handed me, the Dresden files for instance, (and yes I hear the outrage by everyone else) but I am still glad I read all of them.
First, “since I failed miserably at last year’s challenge” is ABSOLUTELY untrue, so take it back or I’m never talking to you again.
Second, thanks for the feedback, and I’ll modify this challenge. For some, keeping up with this year’s publications is a challenge, but, like you, I already have them marked out in my calendar (NERDZ UNITE!).
ok I take it back but I really didn’t read the 5 books of the challenge! Mostly I just like to see how your mind works and what kind of craziness you will come up with next.
I’m also cutting last year’s challenge eight months short. How’s this new one for you? The fun of these is to try to work out if some of the books I had already planned to read can fit into any of these categories!
The Adventures of Ibn Battuta, Ross E. Dunn. http://www.amazon.com/Adventures-Ibn-Battuta-Traveler-Fourteenth/dp/0520243854/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326570702&sr=8-1
This one I picked for Travel Book category, but actually it’s published by University of California Press, so it could be the first category, too.
